Baby Snake Visits

IMG_8701 IMG_8704 IMG_8706

We found this baby snake in front of our house today. Probably our cat, Kaisu, who eats all sorts of moving things (grasshoppers, chameleons, garden lizards, skinks, mice) brought this here. The snake was scared and would not show its head. We have a resident Rock Python in our forest so our first thought went out to it, but on looking up on the internet, it seems more like a Sand Boa. Since we cannot definitively ID it please do confirm the identity of our little friend if you can.

Blue bearded Bee-eater

IMG_8122The Blue-bearded Bee-eater (Nyctyornis athertoni) is a large species of bee-eater found in much of the Indian Subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia. This species is found in openings in patches of dense forest.

Appearance of this bird is another example of the micro-climatic change that happens on this hill. Read more about this beauty on Wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue-bearded_Bee-eater
